Orange County Choppers was a multi-million-dollar customized motorcycle-building business empire, established by Paul Teutul Sr. along with his son Paul Jr. in 1999.

A reality-television series about them called “American Chopper” premiered in 2003, catapulting them to fame such that many chopper-style motorcycle enthusiasts, from regular folks to high-profile celebrities, wanted to commission a bike from their shop.
The chopper culture died out as corporate bikes used for exhibits at trade shows became featured over bikes meant to be ridden. Look at the huge shop that was built, it was unsustainable.
I liked watching the process of building a bike from scratch. I did not like what seemed like constant bickering between Sr and Jr. Mikey and the guys caught in the middle. I really thought the arguing was scripted for higher ratings. I guess that part worked….for a while.
