A few San Diego California American Ironhorse motorcycles meet up with some real horses!
This video shows two American Ironhorse Texas Choppers and one American Ironhorse Legend motorcycle.
The red Texas Chopper is a 2007, my copper color Texas Chopper is a 2006 and the third American Ironhorse motorcycle in this video is a 2007 Legend model. the Texas Chopper was the flagship of the American Ironhorse motorcycle line. It was extremely popular because it had a classic rigid frame chopper look and yet it was actually a soft tail motorcycle. The Texas Choppers came with three S&S engine choices: the 111, the 117 and the huge 124 V-twin engines.
The most popular engine for the Texas Chopper was the S&S 111.
The American Ironhorse motorcycle company was located in Fort Worth Texas and they went out of business during our recession in 2008. 2008 was also the year that they had a radical change to the Texas Chopper. The frame was changed to one down tube and the seating position was also a little lower. Perhaps the most noticeable change in the 2008 model was the new tank, it was a totally different look and also a slightly larger capacity. If you look at the Legend motorcycle in this video, even though it’s a 2007 the tank was changed out to the 2008 Texas Chopper tank so you can get a good look at the big difference in this tank compared to the other two Texas Choppers in the video.
Lastly, the big change in the 2008 Texas Chopper was that they went from a 280 rear wheel to a 300. I’m speculating here, but I think they did that to match their closest competition the Big Dog motorcycles and their very similar looking K-9 model which had a 300 rear tire for many years.
Here is another video I made of the American Ironhorse Legend motorcycle.
