I think Rick had the best in mind but his bike just didn’t appeal to me. People don’t like retro when it comes to custom choppers. They want new groundbreaking designs. Matt did this with his bike. Rick’s bike just looked like the typical midlife crisis chopper you see some new biker riding down the highway with tennis shoes.
Matt built a powerful modern fuel injected and well engineered bike by himself, in less time than it took Rick’s whole team to build a simple triumph. According to the narration, Matt had finished 6 hours before deadline, Rick’s team took an extra 3 hrs to finish.
All the owners pay for there own bike and services. Discovery channel calls and asks if you want to participate, If you say yes, most of the builders then call one of there regular clients. The regular clients actually buy the bike to be built. Plus, these guys build so many bikes they have credit at all the stores, and some services actually sponsor the builders.
