Motorcycle led headlight conversion – this video shows how to convert the standard American Ironhorse Texas Chopper headlight bulb to the new and much more powerful LED bulb.

This is mostly an added safety feature for motorcycle riders because your bike is better seen both during the day and at night with this high output LED bulb. Naturally, the additional benefit of this LED bulb is the fact that you can see much farther at night and thereby avoid unexpected road hazards in more distance than you would have with the standard halogen bulb. This interview was done at a Ramona, hot Rod and motorcycle show where he had his 2008 Harley Davidson entered. Unfortunately, Pete’s bike didn’t win that contest, but he did win my admiration and respect for a guy who is a true motorcycle enthusiast! (more…)

HARLEY DAVIDSON KNUCKLEHEAD 1946 FL

HARLEY DAVIDSON KNUCKLEHEAD

The knucklehead is a retronym used by enthusiasts to refer to a Harley-Davidson motorcycle engine, so named because of the distinct shape of the rocker boxes. The engine is a two cylinder, 45 degree, pushrod actuated overhead valve V-twin engine with two valves per cylinder.

It was the third basic type of V-Twin engine used by Harley-Davidson, replacing the Flathead-engined VL model in 1936 as HD’s top-of-the-line model. The engine was manufactured until 1947 and was replaced by the Panhead engine in 1948. The Knucklehead-engined models were originally referred to as “OHVs” by enthusiasts of the time and in Harley’s official literature; the nickname arose from the California chopper culture of the late 1960s. One of their first real production models this is a beautifully restored Harley.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Production in 1905 and 1906 were all single-cylinder models with 26.84 cubic inches (440 cc) engines. In February 1907 a prototype model with a 45-degree V-Twin engine was displayed at the Chicago Automobile Show. Although shown and advertised, very few V-Twin models were built between 1907 and 1910. These first V-Twins displaced 53.68 cubic inches (880 cc) and produced about 7 horsepower (5.2 kW). This gave about double the power of the first singles. Top speed was about 60 mph (100 km/h).
