A chopper is a type of custom motorcycle which emerged in California in the late 1950s. The chopper is perhaps the most extreme of all custom styles, often using radically modified steering angles and lengthened forks for a stretched-out appearance. They can be built from an original motorcycle which is modified (“chopped”) or built from scratch. Some of the characteristic features of choppers are long front ends with extended forks often coupled with an increased rake angle, hardtail frames (frames without rear suspension), very tall “ape hanger” or very short “drag” handlebars, lengthened or stretched frames, and larger than stock front wheels. The “sissy bar”, a set of tubes that connect the rear fender with the frame, and which are often extended several feet high, is a signature feature on many choppers. Big Dog k9 motorcycle, American Ironhorse LSC and Harley-Davidson Fat Boy 360° video ride in San Diego California.

This 360° motorcycle video was done with a Insta360 One X camera. This camera does NOT move. All the movement was done in post-production. Keep in mind that this video camera was mounted on my Big Dog k9 chopper. So, there was a lot of vibration. Yet, the built-in stabilization did a great job of making the video smooth! (more…)

Keep in mind, It’s little things like these checks and maintenance that can keep you from being stuck on the side of the highway on some lonely mountain road. But not only that, doing motorcycle maintenance for yourself will save you quite a bit of money compared to bringing it into the dealer, and also, provides great satisfaction in knowing that you were able to do it and that it’s been done correctly. Fantastic cycles, beautiful people and great weather made this one of the best events at Bike Week.

California Harley Davidson Demo Days

This San Diego motorcycle event took place at San Diego Harley Davidson. these demo days are really a great opportunity to compare the bike your riding with the latest model Harley.

It used to be that when you thought about Harley you thought about a real big motorcycle saddlebags windshield and unfortunately a huge price. Now, these bikes are still around, but to try to gain market share, I believe the low end of the Harley line starts at 500cc and under $7000! For their top-of-the-line bikes, Harley has their 1,923cc touring bikes that weigh in around 940 pounds, and will set you back around $43,000!

Well, these demo days are great way to get a feel for the new motorcycles without having to spend a dime! Personally, if I was considering spending around 40 grand for new motorcycle, you bet I’m going to ride that bike to be sure it’s the one for me! (more…)
