Motorcycle rider says: Before you rip me… I’M NOT WEARING EAR BUDS! I’m wearing ear plugs (motorcycle approved 29db) to prevent hearing loss. I can hear this jerk talking, but I just can’t understand him (or care what he has to say). The music sounds loud because my goPro microphone is inside my helmet right next to the Sena Bluetooth speaker. I can hear horns, sirens, motors, etc. no problem. I can hear better than when I’m in my car with the windows rolled up for example. CVC 27400 section D if you want to look it up.
In 2015, a study from the University of California, Berkeley showed that lane splitting is safe for motorcycle riders, and in fact is often safer than waiting in traffic! (more…)

This turned out to be a 230 mile chopper motorcycle ride.
This motorcycle ride was on 10-20-19. It was warm in Borrego & about 25 degrees cooler on the Sunrise Highway at the top of Mt. Laguna.

San Diego Chopper Motorcycle Riders – Ramona custom motorcycle show ride
This ride is on Saturday 10-19-19 and is open for all riders, not just choppers. But, naturally, I hope we have a good number of choppers join this ride. This is the day before our big Borrego Days Festival ride. This custom motorcycle show is the fourth annual show sponsored by the Ramona Chamber of Commerce. The funds raised at the show go to Scholarship Programs and local non-profits through the Ramona Community Foundation. (more…)

This is one of the best motorcycle rides in San Diego! This ride is open to all riders, not just choppers. We have many new members since last year’s ride, so, would hope for a decent turn out.
This a big ride, so make sure you and your ride are in good shape.
San Diego best motorcycle ride
The Montezuma grade s22 ( the entire Montezuma Valley Road is about 22 miles long) which is a little over 10 miles going down from Ranchita to Borrego Springs California.. Many motorcyclist in the San Diego area consider this one of the best motorcycle roads in San Diego County. This road has all the twists and turns any motorcyclist would love combined with great vistas out over the desert. There are at least two gas stations in Borrego Springs for those of us with small gas tanks.
Yes, as it shows on the map above, this ride will be about four hours. With gas stops, and lunch at the Borrego Days festival, you should figure a total of about five/six hours. If his is a little much for you, or you just can’t get away for that time we have another shorter ride on 10-19-19 to the Ramona motorcycle show, the day before this ride. I’ll post info on the Ramona ride tomorrow. Ideally, you can make both of these rides! Perhaps thinking of th Ramona ride as a warm-up to the Borrego ride. (more…)

California Gas Tax Rip-Off
Yesterday I put some premium gas in my bike and it cost me $4.19 a gallon! Yes, riding a motorcycle, we usually only get a couple of gallons of gas at a time, but here in California, once again our gas prices have gone crazy.
Just in the last two weeks gas prices have gone up over $.43 a gallon. Sure, there are external factors that affect the gas price in general, but if you live in California you’re always getting screwed on the gas price. Years ago, I used to remember seeing at the side of the gas pumps the stickers that said how much the gas was and how much all the different taxes are, I haven’t seen that lately here in California. Now, maybe I just haven’t been paying close attention or perhaps the politicians, to keep the public in the dark, have eliminated that rule that you had to have a sticker showing the taxes on the gas price.
