American Ironhorse Motorcycles
The American Ironhorse Texas Chopper and and the Big Dog K-9 motorcycle are my two favorite factory custom motorcycles. Personally, I don’t think there’s a better factory custom chopper than the Texas Chopper or the Big Dog K-9!
The Texas chopper was the flagship of the American Ironhorse line of custom motorcycles. I’ve owned a number of them, starting with the 2004 and ending with a 2006. As I said before the Texas chopper and the Big Dog K-9 are my favorite motorcycles! Currently I’m riding a 2017 Big Dog K-9 with 117 in.³ S&S engine.
Both the Texas Chopper and the Big Dog K-9 are head turner’s where ever they go. The Texas Chopper came with three engine choices, all S&S engines starting at 111, 117 and the 124 in.³. The Big Dog K-9 came with the S&S 117 inch engine and when they went back into business the K-9 was upgraded to the S&S 124 inch engine.
Both these beautiful choppers are over 9 feet long, and to me, are powerful, sleek, works of rolling art. The truth is, you can go out and buy a new Harley for probably somewhere in the $30,000 too low $40,000 range and it would still not generate the looks of a well-maintained Texas chopper or Big Dog K-9 if they are parked next to your brand-new bike!

Best San Diego Motorcycle Ride
Best San Diego Motorcycle Ride
This is one of the best San Diego motorcycle rides. If you love twisty mountain roads, you really have to ride out to Borrego Springs! Plus, there are great desert metal sculptures all over Borrego. These unique sculptures make for great photo spots. Best of all is a gigantic dragon, that is so long it stretches over the highway.
This is part one of two videos about our motorcycle ride to Borrego Springs California. Borrego Springs is completely surrounded by Anza-Borrego State Park, the largest of California’s State Parks.
The best part of this motorcycle ride is when you turn off of San Felipe a road and onto Montezuma Valley Road this is about 22 miles from that turn off down to Borrego Springs. The best part of the road, at least as far as motorcycles are concerned is the last 10 miles. This is right after your ride through Ranchita and then you start down the long grade to Borrego Springs. This is the first use of my new 360° VR camera to video a motorcycle ride. the camera is a Insta360 One, that records in 4K resolution. For best possible viewing results, change the resolution of this video up to 4K and full-screen, if your device can handle it without buffering. If you have a problem, just lower the resolution until it plays back correctly.
Riding up to Mount Laguna and Julian California is the most popular San Diego motorcycle ride. If you look closely at the video when we’re riding into Julian you’ll see a large amount of motorcycles parked on both sides of the main street. Read more

Motorcycle video tip
Make your next motorcycle video much more entertaining! I’m sure you know about VR 360 videos, this motorcycle video tip is how to use a 360° video to provide your audience scenes that you preselected from the raw 360° footage and then converted it into a regular ‘flat’ video. Motorcycle video tip:
Using this technique, is almost like having a passenger behind you filming your motorcycle ride at various angles, all from one small stationary 360° camera that is attached to your motorcycle helmet. Read more

The Texas Chopper was the flagship of the Ironhorse motorcycle line. Many do not realize that Ironhorse made a number of different models (the majority of which are rigid frames) in their Fort Worth Texas facility. We are going to be featuring videos on many of the Ironhorse models in the coming weeks.
As I said, the Texas Chopper was the most popular of the Ironhorse models followed closely by their Legend model. Actually, these two models were both swinging arm suspension choppers. What really made them very popular was the distinctive classic chopper look, while providing a soft tail ride. Read more
