Like American Ironhorse Motorcycles in 2008, Big Dog Motorcycles went out of business in 2011. Since both manufactures used S&S engines, their bikes are still in demand. The top of the line for Big Dog Motorcycles was their K9 chopper model. The K9 Big Dog was very similar to the American Ironhorse top of the line Texas Chopper. Both the K9 & Texas Chopper represent the best factory built soft tail choppers ever!
Big Dog Motorcycles, LLC, started production in 1994 and has since built nearly 25,000 motorcycles, becoming the worlds largest manufacturer of custom motorcycles. The company’s entire line of five motorcycles uses a V-twin 117 cubic inch engine (either carbureted or fuel injected), 6-speed transmission, stretch one-piece steel tank, right side drive, super fat tires, chrome components, steel fenders, and an extensive variety of custom paint colors and graphics.
