There is no doubt that I have a type ‘A’ personality . . . I started off with my first Harley when I was in my early 20’s and then started off and hang gliding by constructing my own glider. I’ve been into hang gliding for approximately 20 years and as far as adrenaline sports goes, I don’t think there’s anything that can compare.
This is the second of two videos of our ride up to Julian and then out of Julian heading toward two of San Diego’s most famous hang gliding sites. The first one off of the Sunrise Highway, is for East winds, it’s a 3000 foot vertical cliff take off over the desert.
My personal record for hang gliding has been 50 miles and 15,100 feet as my highest altitude reached. I retired from hang gliding about five years ago and went back to high-powered good looking choppers. Read more

1869 gold was discovered in Coleman Creek, just west of Julian. Even today, if you know where to go, you can still find a few gold flakes in Colman Creek. Today, Julian is more of a tourist town, better known for its apple pies than for gold mining. Though, there is an inactive gold mine that does provide tours for the tourist, right in the heart of town. Read more
