There’s nothing like riding a good-looking Chopper through the countryside!
Sure, riding any type of motorcycle through open roads in the country is a great experience. But, riding a high-powered, cool looking chopper, it’s really a kick in the ass! How many real chopper riders think about those great rides on the open country roads during the winter off-season? Personally, I bet there’s quite a few, as we’re looking forward to the warmer weather and getting our machines back out on the road. (more…)
Here in the Arizona area there are many motorcycle rides.
But there’s quite a difference between a motorcycle ride and an exclusive Chopper ride. Sure, Choppers have their admirers and their detractors, but one thing’s for sure when a group of Choppers get together for a ride they attract a lot more attention and admiration from the General Public then a bunch of stock motorcycles. Last Sunday it was in the 80s here in Peoria Arizona. So I decided to take my big dog K9 chopper out for a little ride over to the roadhouse biker bar in Cave Creek Arizona.
The motor is a custom built S&S 111 Evo with Panhead style Rocker Covers.

A chopper is a type of custom motorcycle which emerged in California in the late 1950s. The chopper is perhaps the most extreme of all custom styles, often using radically modified steering angles and lengthened forks for a stretched-out appearance. They can be built from an original motorcycle which is modified (“chopped”) or built from scratch. Some of the characteristic features of choppers are long front ends with extended forks often coupled with an increased rake angle, hardtail frames (frames without rear suspension), very tall “ape hanger” or very short “drag” handlebars, lengthened or stretched frames, and larger than stock front wheels. The “sissy bar”, a set of tubes that connect the rear fender with the frame, and which are often extended several feet high, is a signature feature on many choppers. (more…)

The Shovelhead engine was created as the previous Panhead engine was becoming obsolete, with many Harley-Davidson owners demanding more power to compete with the more modern motorcycles. Throughout the Shovelhead’s run, the engine had many different changes made to it to improve power, cooling and oil consumption. The engines had only 10 fins for cooling, which caused them to run hot. Another problem was that oil would pool in the cylinder heads, causing it to leak into the valves and burn oil. (more…)
Chopper motorcycles ride to downtown San Diego’s GasLamp Quarter for the last day of Comic-Con. Yes, this is the place to be and be seen for comic book fans, cosplayers and pop culture lovers alike to assemble at the San Diego Convention Center.
We had Big Dog motorcycles, American Ironhorse motorcycles, Thunder Mountain and custom construction motorcycles on this ride to Fifth Avenue in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter for the last day of the annual Comic-Con convention. (more…)
