Changing a motorcycle oil is perhaps one of the most important maintenance items that you can do.  Plus, was many motorcycle dealers charging over $100 to do a complete oil change, learning to do it yourself is really a tremendous money saver. Every make and model of motorcycle, has different oil types and oil change intervals. In this video I’m working on my past American Ironhorse Texas Chopper.  The basic oil change information shown in my video, with minor changes, is applicable for most motorcycles.

Changing the motor oil on a 2007 big dog motorcycles K9 model with a S&S 117 in.³ the twin engine.

Here in Southern California I think a motorcyclist would be hard-pressed to find any big the twin motorcycle dealer  who would charge less than about $120 for a motorcycle oil and filter change.

So, needless to say changing your own motorcycles motor oil and oil filter will save you a lot of money as well as provide a sense of accomplishment. But, probably the most important thing you can get out of doing your own minor maintenance including this motorcycle oil and filter change is the fact that when you’re finished you know that it’s been done right!

To find the correct torque specifications and fluid levels and the amounts be sure to consult your owners manual. Not only are the specifications different for different bikes but they could well be different for different model years of the same bike as well.
