If you’ve been watching the energy landscape across the country, you already know the writing is on the wall. Since 2020, 11 major oil refineries nationwide have completely shut down their crude processing or converted away from fossil fuels. But nowhere is this crunch hitting harder or looking more entirely self-inflicted than in California.
