Did you know that San Diego County has more motorcycles sold in per capita every year than anywhere else in the USA?

I always thought Los Angeles County with its population almost 3 times that of San Diego County would have more motorcycle thefts than San Diego County. But, actually Los Angeles County has roughly the same number (as San Diego County ) of motorcycle stolen each year.

Police authorities speculate that the reason for the high motorcycle thefts in San Diego County is because of its proximity to the Mexican border. From downtown San Diego the border is just 20 minutes to the south.

On a recent news report, it was disclosed that Mexican drug cartels have targeted motorcycles as a quick and easy way to raise cash from selling the bike parts and the entire bikes themselves to interior areas within Mexico and Central America. Read more
