American Ironhorse, Big Bear, Big Dog, and a number of other custom motorcycle manufacturers about five years ago seem to be in a race for who could put the widest tire on their bikes.
The extra wide rear motorcycle tire was perhaps epitomized in the Batman movie with the bat-cycle.
Personally, my current 2006 Texas Chopper has a 280 rear wheel and my 2006 American Ironhorse Legend, has a 240 rear tire. Also, a number of my riding buddies have 300 rear tires. So, I’m obviously biased toward the wide rear tire look for custom motorcycles.
If your sport bike enthusiast, the wide tire look is not the way to go because cornering handling is directly affected as the width of the tire increases.
