If your primary chain tension is too tight you could cause damage to your engine and transmission bearings. if the primary chain is to lose it can cause problems getting in and out of neutral as well as loud clunking sounds. (more…)

When it comes to doing your own motorcycle maintenance, changing your primary case oil is perhaps one of the easiest preventive maintenance procedures that you can tackle on your own.

In this video I’m doing the primary oil change on a 2007 Big Dog K-9 motorcycle. the basics of this procedure are pretty similar for all makes and models of motorcycles. But, with that said before starting any motorcycle maintenance or repair, you definitely want to check with your owners manual on how the manufacturer recommends it be done

It should be obvious that even the same model motorcycle from year-to-year can have different specifications on doing maintenance procedures so this is why it’s critical when you’re tackling this yourself to do the research before undertaking the motorcycle maintenance. if you can’t find your owners motorcycle manual or the shop manual, I would suggest that you contact your dealer who may be able to supply you with a PDF of these documents.     Big Dog Motorcycle Primary Oil Change: (more…)

Southern California Motorcycle Event

Well, I guess I should say hot Rod and motorcycle show because technically that’s what the Cajon Classic Cruise is really all about. This was opening night April 18, 2018 on Main Street in El Cajon just across from the Civic Center. The really great thing about this particular show is that it’s a weekly event, yes, every Wednesday evening from about 5 PM to 8 PM from now through October 31. Southern California Motorcycle Event:

Not only can you view a lot of great looking motorcycles, but, naturally there are hot rods, classic muscle cars and racing cars. Unlike many other shows around San Diego, this one, is totally free. Yes it’s free to view and also free to enter a vehicle. Each show ends with a little entertainment and awarding of trophies to the best in class. (more…)

Changing the motor oil on a 2007 big dog motorcycles K9 model with a S&S 117 in.³ the twin engine.

Here in Southern California I think a motorcyclist would be hard-pressed to find any big the twin motorcycle dealer  who would charge less than about $120 for a motorcycle oil and filter change.

So, needless to say changing your own motorcycles motor oil and oil filter will save you a lot of money as well as provide a sense of accomplishment. But, probably the most important thing you can get out of doing your own minor maintenance including this motorcycle oil and filter change is the fact that when you’re finished you know that it’s been done right!

To find the correct torque specifications and fluid levels and the amounts be sure to consult your owners manual. Not only are the specifications different for different bikes but they could well be different for different model years of the same bike as well.

Breaking the k9 choppers in looks like it was a lot of fun.  They put a over thirty-miles on each of the choppers. They are put through all six-gears of the Jim’s Transmissions.
