American Ironhorse Motorcycle Models and Values

Thinking about getting a cool looking chopper to ride this season? Most riders agree the top two factory built choppers are the American Ironhorse and the Big Dog motorcycles. both these manufacturers made a number of motorcycles and their line and in a number of instances, some of the models look very similar.

But, the handling and both the original new sales price and the current resale values can be dramatically different.

For the American Ironhorse motorcycle models the two most similar were, Texas Chopper and the Legend model. The main differences between these two are:

The front fork tubes are 2 inches shorter on the Legend.

The Texas Chopper has dual disc brakes and the Legend only has one disc brake.

The Legend rear tire is a 240 versus the 280 on the Texas Chopper. On the 2008, Texas Chopper I believe it was the first time that they went to a 300 rear tire.

2007 Big Dog K9 motorcycle for sale

Another chopper in the American Ironhorse line was the Lone Star Chopper (LSC), this model, unlike the the soft tail models of the Texas Chopper and the Legend is a rigid frame motorcycle.

The most popular of the American Ironhorse motorcycles was and is the Texas Chopper.

For the big dog line, their flagship model was. The K-9. the K-9. First came out in 2006, and some believe it was intended to replace their existing cChopper model Both the Chopper and the K9 are soft tail models and they were both produced during 2006 and 2007. The last year for the Chopper model was 2007.

So, for the years 2006 and 2007, there can be a lot of confusion between these two similar looking soft tail models. The main differences were that the K-9 was about eight or 9 inches longer than the Chopper model, and also had the wider 300 rear tire.
