Motorcycle theft

Did you know that San Diego County has more motorcycles sold in per capita every year than anywhere else in the USA?

I always thought Los Angeles County with its population almost 3 times that of San Diego County would have more motorcycle thefts than San Diego County. But, actually Los Angeles County has roughly the same number (as San Diego County ) of motorcycle stolen each year.

Police authorities speculate that the reason for the high motorcycle thefts in San Diego County is because of its proximity to the Mexican border. From downtown San Diego the border is just 20 minutes to the south.

On a recent news report, it was disclosed that Mexican drug cartels have targeted motorcycles as a quick and easy way to raise cash from selling the bike parts and the entire bikes themselves to interior areas within Mexico and Central America. (more…)

Harley-Davidson News

Scary Harley-Davison News:

Yesterday, Harley-Davidson announced that its third-quarter profits dropped 18.7% based on lower motorcycle sales. Today, Harley-Davidson motorcycles announced that it would be cutting approximately 5% of its workforce by the end of the year.the cuts will also affect about 70 Harley-Davison contractors.

Harley-Davison did not say where these cuts in their workforce will take place. (more…)

San Diego Women Motorcycle Riders

This was a celebration of San Diego woman motorcycle riders that occurred in an art gallery in the Logan Heights area of South San Diego.

Personally, over the last decade or so I think the number of women motorcycle riders has increased exponentially! San Diego California is the ideal setting for motorcycling. The scenery from the Pacific Ocean to the mountains and deserts all within an easy couple hour ride, make San Diego a motorcycle rider’s paradise!

It said now that women make up 12% of the US motorcycle owners. this figure is up approximately28% just in the last five years!

From a survey conducted by the Motorcycle Industry Council, they show that in 2012, about 27 million people in the US operated a motorcycle. approximately 6.7 million of these motorcycle riders were women!

Motorcycle Helmet Concept

This is the Official Concept Video of the iC-R (Intelligent Cranium) Motorcycle Helmet.

I understand that the manufacturer is now promising that this helmet will also have a built-in front mounted camera. The specifications of the camera were not released but I sure hope it’s at least 4K with some type of remote on all feature. I also read that they are going to be using Google maps for their built-in navigation. (more…)

California Texas Chopper Motorcycle

Eric’s 2004 American Ironhorse Texas Chopper motorcycle. when it comes to factory manufactured chopper motorcycles, it’s my humble opinion that the American Ironhorse Texas Chopper and the Big Dog K-9 are two of the classic and best built chopper’s!

We did this video in front of San Diego Harley Davison on Marina Boulevard here in San Diego. many other motorcycle riders and most of the general public when looking at the Texas Chopper believe that it is a rigid frame model because of the low seat position and no visible rear shock absorbers. Imperial Beach Hot Rod Motorcycle Show

AutoFest 2016

This show is set for October 8, 2016 and runs from 9 AM to 3 PM. Naturally, it’s totally free for spectators and if one wants to enter their motorcycle in the show and perhaps get a trophy the fee is $20.

Charger Steve ran the very popular Pacific beach hot Rod and motorcycle show for years. For 2016 I think this Autofest show is taking the place of that Pacific beach show.

What’s different about this show is that not only can you take in some great looking motorcycles and hot rods even off-road vehicles but Steve provides a lot of entertainment throughout the show. (more…)
