This great-looking bike was my personal bike that I sold about two years ago. The current owner, who lives in Washington state is getting ready to buy a home and needs to sell it. Below are a few current pictures of the bike as well as links to a couple of my videos where I was riding the bike around San Diego. This is a 2006 American iron horse Texas chopper. Of the about 6 to 8 models that they made, this was their flagship model. Personally the only reason that I sold it two years ago was because I wanted to get another one and be able to have it custom painted the way I wanted.
Yes, not only is this a stunning looking bike, but it’s also a very powerful excellent handling chopper. In my opinion, and the opinion of many other longtime riders, the Texas chopper epitomized the high-end American chopper!
This is a factory made custom bike. They were manufactured in Fort Worth Texas and the original prices start at about $35,000. What’s very unusual about this bike is one of the few that I’ve seen on the market that has the optional chrome package. I understand that this option cost between 45 and $5,500 additional when the bike was new. It really makes a world of difference in the appearance of the bike instead of having aluminum wheels there now chrome the rotor is chrome the triple trees are chrome and actually it’s a chrome polish engine. The rich deep blue paint of the bike really sets off the chrome and any place I use the park this bike it would draw crowds and numerous people asking if it was okay to take a photo of it.
San Diego being the third largest city in California there are always a lot of hot Rod and motorcycle shows going on. This bike, in one season, one six out of the eight shows that I entered!
Even though the recession knocked American iron horse out of business the bikes are still in big demand and the SNS engines, which are considered by many to be more reliable than the Harley engines are still being manufactured in Milwaukee! The engine in this bike is 111 in.³ and I believe even though it’s a 2006 it is still bigger than any Harley engine currently available.
Now, it’s not a one-off custom bike but in some respects it’s very similar to one but you have the benefit of many replacement parts and major Internet forums for the iron horse motorcycles.
