American Ironhorse 2008 Texas Chopper
American Ironhorse Texas Chopper
There are a lot of big changes for American Ironhorse in 2008. By far the biggest change was that in the latter part of the year. They filed for bankruptcy. By some estimates for 2008 only 1500 American Ironhorse motorcycles were manufactured.
The model that were looking at in this video is their most popular, the Texas Chopper.
The 2008 Texas Chopper saw some major changes. A few of those changes are that their classic stretched gas tank was replaced by what I believe even a better looking (and almost 2 gallons larger) gas tank. Also, the frame itself was changed to a single downtube, plus, the rear tire size was increased from 280mm to 300mm. A new chrome double-sided rear belt guard was added and the standard Texas Chopper two disks on the front wheel was changed over to a single front wheel disc brake.
The seat height was lowered to just 22 inches. Lastly, I’d like to mention that in all the prior editions of the Texas Chopper model, three sizes of the S&S engine were offered, they were: 111, 117 and one 24 in.³. In an obvious effort to save money for 2008, just the one 111 cubic inches S&S engine was offered. The American Ironhorse 2008 Texas Chopper also came with a Progressive air ride suspension system. I’m not sure whether the air suspension system was new for the 2008 Texas Chopper, or really first appeared in the 2007 Texas Chopper. I do know that the 2007 American Ironhorse Legend model chopper did have the air suspension system.
I have a 2006 Ironhorse Legend and I want to increase the fuel capacity of my tank. After searching the internet I saw your 2008 and I love the tank you built for it. How can I get one?

Hi Wes,
That is the factory standard 2008 Texas Chopper tank. In 2008 they changed both the frame & tank.
