Chopper (motorcycle)

Text from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, photos from https://sandiegocustommotorcycles.info :

While all choppers are highly customized bikes, sometimes even being built from scratch using all custom parts, not all customized bikes are choppers. In Europe at roughly the same era that choppers were invented and popularized in the USA, bikers modified their bikes (primarily English brands like Triumph, BSA, Norton and Matchless) in a different way, to achieve different looks, performance goals and riding position. The resulting bikes are known as café racers, and look very different from a chopper. (more…)

Counter Steering A Motorcycle

Counter Steering A Motorcycle

The biggest problem some people have about learning Counter Steering is grasping the concept of “turn right to go left” So here is a better way to learn counter steering a motorcycle:

Counter-steering, leaning, and using massive throttle to steer the motorcycle from the rear is currently the quickest combined technique to change direction of a motorcycle. Of course on the street most people will not do the third part, so Counter-steering and leaning together will always change the direction of the bike faster than Counter-steering by itself (on the street). On the track, the best racers use all three combined. It doesn’t matter if you’re riding a Harley or a cutting edge Sportsbike, I strongly recommend practicing both together.

Radical Chopper Motorcycles

Radical Chopper Motorcycles

Crazy  long front forks and handlebars on chopper motorcycles. Radical Chopper Motorcycles:

It seems there are people who always want to take a look to its extreme or radical possibility. Unfortunately, when doing this, especially on an auto or motorcycle handling and therefore safety are compromised.

Yes, it’s one thing to put on a long front end just for shows, but to actually operate a motorcycle with one of these radical extended front ends and extreme rake, is just an accident waiting to happen! (more…)

Smart motorcycle helmet

Crosshelmet – Smart motorcycle helmet

Motorcycles have evolved faster than helmets have . . . Well, that was then, this is now:
The CrossHelmet is a next generation motorcycle helmet with sound control  and 360° visibility that will transform your riding experience. Before you read any further, let me tell you what I think is the big downside to this helmet . . . And that is the estimated price of around $1700! I just can’t see a lot of motorcyclist spending that kind of money for a high-tech helmet. So if this company is going to be a success I hope they planned on very limited production or future price drop two under $1000.

The CrossHelmet brings state of the art technology to a safety staple that has remained stagnant for years. Our product combines integrated head-up display with 360° range of vision, sound management, and Bluetooth features to riders. It is the smartest motorcycle helmet ever.

360° VISIBILITY – We believe rear vision is an essential part of increasing rider safety. That’s why the CrossHelmet is equipped with a rear-view camera. The camera is combined with a wide-view visor that allows more road-vision and eliminates blind spots, allowing for optimum, 360° views. (more…)

How To Pick Up A Dropped Motorcycle

A demonstration of how to pick up a dropped motorcycle the easy way!

A Haley-Davidson representative doing this demonstration. How to tip your Harley back up when you drop it! Keep in mind that if you been riding a long time they say it’s not if you ever drop your bike but when you drop your bike!

On big dress bikes,. what really helps is the crash bars and bags not letting the bike actually get laid all the way over. When a bike is laying all the way on its side with no crash bar or bags to keep it at about a 45 degree angle it is definitely a lot harder to get back up. (more…)

Kickstarting a Motorcycle

Kickstarting a Motorcycle – I certainly remember those days!

Since I started riding in the 1960s I remember well kickstarting Harleys! You really had to have your bike all tuned up and be careful not to flood the engine. Even then, sometimes you had to jump on the pedal 10 or 12 times to get the engine running. This video is shows a gal kickstarting a Harley Ironhead. this bike or gal definitely has perseverance and a great never give up mentality!

It would be easier if she straddled the bike and stood on the left peg instead of kicking it sidesaddle.

You gotta kick an Ironhead way harder than a Shovel. She just ain’t heavy enough! (more…)
