The Big Dog K-9 was the flagship of the Big Dog line. This nine-foot-long chopper has a 39 degree rake, 117ci. S&S v-twin engine and the forks are a sick 12 inches over sized. Also, there are two hidden adjustable shocks.

The chopper’s A-Frame swingarm houses a 300mm rear tire so there is plenty of rubber to lay down on the road. Personally, I believe the K-9 & the American Ironhorse Texas Chopper are the two best factory built classic-looking choppers ever built!
This beautiful big dog K-9 was one that I personally owned for a short period of time. I recently sold it to Jon, a sport bike rider from Orange County. Jon had been, and still does, ride the ZX-14R super sport-bike pictured here.
When I first got back into motorcycling, the first bike that I purchased here in San Diego, was an extreme looking soft tail custom built chopper with a S&S 124ci.engine. I purchased this bike from a sport bike rider who, although he loved the look of the chopper, decided to sell it because he just couldn’t get used to the handling difference.
So, it’s very unusual to have a sport bike rider crossover into a high-powered classic looking chopper like this Big Dog K-9. After all, the rides are dramatically and radically different. But, I guess if you want to claim owning two of the best bikes in their categories, this is a way to do it.
